Back depilation

Laser Back depilation: how to say goodbye to too much hair?

Essentially masculine, back hair removal is more and more practiced. The fault lies with the beauty canons that have changed slightly in recent years. Hairiness is a sign of virility when it is not excessive in mature men. On the other hand, in young men, a hairless body is considered much more attractive. So, due to the inaccessibility of the area with a razor or wax, men are increasingly turning to laser back hair removal.

Back depilation: the technique

Laser hair removal from the back is a technique that progressively destroys hair.

Today, all phototypes can be treated, from light to dark skins. The hair, as for them, must be brown or black. To be effective, the laser beam needs the melanin contained in the hair. It is melanin that transforms the laser energy into heat to destroy the hair. When it contains little or no melanin, as is the case with red, very light blond, white or grey hair, laser hair removal is not effective.

In men, the back is an area that can be extremely hairy. In some cases, comments from the people around you can even lead to complexes. Thus, back hair does not have the same characteristics depending on its location:

  • Top of the back: they are pigmented and thick;
  • Lower back and sides: they are light and fine.

In all cases, the doctor should avoid removing hair from the areas of fine hair to avoid stimulating the hair. It is possible to depilate the back completely or only part of it, such as the shoulders or lower back.

Back depilation: the session

The number of sessions for back hair removal varies according to the size of the area. In general, it will take between 6 and 8 sessions for a permanent hair removal. Each session lasts between 40 and 60 minutes and should be spaced about 6 weeks apart, until regrowth is visible.

Before a back hair removal session, a first consultation is necessary so that your doctor can examine your hair and skin in order to adapt the laser intensity. He or she will also ask you about your history and may detect possible contraindications.

On the day of the operation, the doctor will re-examine you to make the final adjustment of the device and check the shaving of the area.

Both you and the practitioner must wear protective eyewear. After setting up the device, the doctor will perform a test on a small area of your body.

He then scans the area using the laser equipped with a cryogenic system that calms the pain by the diffusion of a cold liquid.

At the end of your session, the practitioner applies a moisturizing cream to your skin to soothe redness, pain and itching.

The results

The first results of laser hair removal are visible after a few weeks. The hair will then fall out and, as the sessions progress, the growth will be slower and slower and the hair will become finer and finer.

Between sessions, the patient can shave the treated area and apply depilatory cream. However, he or she should avoid depilation with wax, electric depilators or tweezers. If the patient misses one of his hair removal sessions, the final result may be delayed, but he will not lose the benefits of the previous sessions.

At the end of the treatment, about 90% of the patient’s hair will no longer grow back. However, small regrowths may occur and a maintenance session should be scheduled every year to maintain the benefits of back hair removal.

It should be noted that in most cases, laser back hair removal gives very satisfactory results for the patient.
