Buttock implants

Buttock Implants: For a nice rounded buttocks

Buttock implants (or buttock prostheses) bring roundness to flat buttocks and sculpt the curve of the hollow below the hip. The buttock prosthesis placement technique gives a very natural result.

The indications: Flat buttocks

Flat buttocks are most often of congenital origin, related to the morphology of the person. They can also result from significant weight loss.

This defect affects both sexes but it is more unsightly in a woman than in a man, mainly for cultural reasons. A woman with a well rounded buttocks is considered more feminine and more attractive. There is also an injustice related to birth. A man, if he is well muscled, will achieve an acceptable rounded shape, while a woman, even if muscled, will have a well toned but still flat buttock. It will therefore be necessary to make a bulge above to give volume.

Most often, a liposuction of the hips is associated with a gluteal implant in order to better emphasize the curve obtained.

The course of a buttock prosthesis operation

Buttock surgery is performed under general anesthesia with one to two nights of hospitalization and lasts about an hour.

The implants are filled with a cohesive silicone gel that makes them very strong. The surgeon chooses the size and shape of the prosthesis by taking into account the original appearance of the patient’s buttocks. There are prostheses of all shapes, round, oval, biconvex or oblong and of all sizes with an average volume varying between 250 and 350 cubic centimetres.

The surgeon makes an incision of about six centimetres vertically in the fold of the buttocks. The scar is therefore totally invisible. He then inserts the prostheses in a box created by detaching the gluteus maximus muscle, located in the upper half of the buttocks. Then he stitches the deep planes and the skin with absorbable sutures. Finally, he applies a shaping dressing with elastic bands.

The after-effects of buttock surgery

There is more or less severe pain for eight to ten days. The surgeon lifts the gluteus maximus muscle to insert the prosthesis and it is this manipulation that causes the pain after gluteal implants are inserted. There is also swelling and bruising for about ten days. Normal activity is resumed after about a month.

Special attention is given to pain management. In the recovery room, when the anaesthesia is lifted, analgesics of various strengths are given by vein. Once the patient is back in the room, the nursing staff regularly assesses the extent of the pain in order to increase or decrease the dose of analgesics. The patient spends two nights in the clinic to be followed at best in the first days, which are generally the most painful.

Back home, pressure on the buttocks should be avoided for six weeks. In particular, it is not recommended to sleep on your back, to bend over, to lift objects. The patient should preferably sit upright. It is also a good idea to provide home help for daily activities such as running errands, climbing stairs, washing, etc.

Once this delicate stage is over, the patient is very happy with the result and quickly forgets the discomfort of the first few days.

The results

It is visible immediately but becomes definitive after 2 to 3 months, the time it takes for the buttocks to soften and the prostheses to stabilize. The sensitivity of the buttocks is preserved. Implants can be worn for life.
