Liposuction

Liposuction: how to refine your figure?

Invented in 1977, liposuction is, today, the most widely practiced aesthetic surgery procedure in the world. Liposuction effectively treats fat deposits located on different parts of the body. It allows you to regain a harmonious silhouette and effectively treat certain parts of the face such as the double chin.

Objectives of liposuction

This operation aims to eliminate the small fat deposits in your body, which are difficult to remove even with sports or dieting. Liposuction will therefore allow you to treat different parts of your body and face.

This technique aims to harmonize the silhouette by reshaping it. The goal of liposuction is therefore not slimming. You will always be advised to get as close as possible to your ideal weight before undergoing liposuction. It is therefore not a treatment for obesity, but rather an operation to sculpt your body.

If the excess fat is very minimal, the patient can opt for a gentle liposuction that is less invasive than the traditional technique.

The areas that can be treated with liposuction are :

  • Double chin liposuction
  • Arm liposuction
  • Hip Liposuction
  • Belly liposuction
  • Buttock Liposuction
  • Liposuction of the thighs
  • Knee Liposuction
  • Calf Liposuction

The steps of liposuction

A first visit is always made with your surgeon before proceeding with a liposuction. This first consultation is an opportunity to know your history and to find out if there are any contraindications that would prevent you from undergoing such an operation. On the day, the operation takes place in several stages:

  • Before proceeding with the liposuction, the plastic surgeon marks the areas to be treated with a surgical marker.
  • He then infiltrates a solution to liquefy the fat and make it easier to suck out the fat.
  • Then, small incisions will allow him to insert a cannula with a rounded foam tip and perforated at the end. He then makes back and forth movements to aspirate the excess fat with the cannulas.
  • Once the fat has been aspirated, the surgeon closes the incisions with absorbable thread and covers them with a dressing.

Liposuction: technical information

The procedure for a liposuction lasts between 1 and 3 hours depending on the areas treated. The hospitalization is generally done on an outpatient basis if the liposuction area is small. Otherwise, an overnight hospitalization may be necessary. Normally, general anesthesia is required for this type of surgery. However, when liposuction is performed on a small area, local anesthesia may be used.

The results

The first results of a liposuction are visible immediately after the operation. In areas where liposuction has been performed, volumes have decreased. The swelling disappears and the skin gradually retracts, the final result is visible 3 months after the liposuction operation.

Indeed, it will take this time for the post-procedure edema to disappear and the skin to tighten completely. The skin will take a month to completely retract to the new silhouette curves. The result will then be optimal. The time it takes for the swelling to disappear will vary depending on the area where the liposuction operation was performed (stomach, hips, thighs, buttocks, etc.).

You will regain a harmonious figure, as if you had never gained weight before. The time it takes for the swelling to disappear will vary depending on the area where the liposuction operation was performed (stomach, hips, thighs, buttocks etc.).

However, you are not exempt from adopting or maintaining a healthy lifestyle and a balanced diet. Fat cells do not multiply but can move to other areas of the body.

With these few tips, the results of liposuction will be definitive and spectacular.

The fat cells, or adipocytes, that will be sucked out by the intervention, do not have the ability to re-grow. A definitive result is then obtained. The time that the skin retracts definitively on the new curves, it will be necessary to wait a period between 3 and 6 months to appreciate the result in a definitive way. The result of liposuction is generally fully satisfactory, as long as all the precautions and indications specific to this procedure have been respected.

The success of liposuction depends on the quality of the skin: it is preferable to have a thick, toned and elastic skin that naturally tightens after the operation. In order that the fat does not develop elsewhere on the body, however, it is necessary to have a good lifestyle.
