Upper lip depilation

Laser upper lip depilation: how to get rid of a thin moustache?

In women, one of the most common areas on the face is the lips. A simple down or moustache, these hairs, which are very visible, can sometimes be a nuisance in everyday life. Thus, laser lip hair removal can get rid of the drudgery of facial hair removal, whether with wax or electric hair removal.

Upper lip depilation: the technique

Lips allow the expression of emotions and feelings, but are also a major asset during seduction. Thus, when, in women, it is noted that a small moustache appears above the lip, it can quickly become a source of complexes and psychological discomfort.

The hairs on the upper lip are specific compared to other hairs. Indeed, the hairs are relatively fine and have a low concentration of melanin. The result is faster on the central part of the upper lip than on the sides. Patients should never shave the hairs of the upper lip before the session in order not to stimulate them.

Thus, when it is a simple down, the laser will not be effective, given the low melanin content of the hair. On the other hand, when the hair is dark, it is possible to resort to laser hair removal. As the hair is finer, the number of sessions will be greater.

Upper lip depilation: The Session

The hairs are relatively fine and have a low concentration of melanin. The result is faster on the central part of the upper lip than on the sides. Patients should never shave the hairs of the upper lip before the session in order not to stimulate them.

A minimum of ten sessions should be planned with an interval of about 4 weeks between sessions.

Before any laser lip hair removal, a first consultation is necessary to examine the hairiness, but also the phototype of the patient. This is also an opportunity for the doctor to learn more about the patient’s history and to eliminate certain contraindications that could prevent the patient from having such a procedure.

During the session, the practitioner examines the area to be treated for possible lesions. If the hairs are too long, it will be necessary to shave them. Then, the specialist sets the device according to the patient’s hair and phototype.

Both doctor and patient must wear protective glasses during the procedure.

When it is the first laser hair removal session, the practitioner performs a test on a small area of the skin in order to control the laser intensity. Once the laser is properly adjusted, a centimetre-by-centimetre scan of the area is performed.

At the end of the session, the practitioner applies a moisturizing and soothing cream on the lips to calm burning and itching sensations and to reduce redness.
